As late winter heads toward spring don’t underestimate the influence that the stormy weather has on your life, relationships and mood. We aren’t getting much sun, air quality is low and things in general can feel unpredictable. It can be extra challenging to find balance and tranquility internally when it is not visible externally. This is a great time to organize your closet, clean out your car or do some other activity that can instill in you a greater sense of security and control. With that said, don’t let go of a gentle approach. Choose to spend time doing things that bring you comfort as well. Yes, you may say I am sounding as flip-floppy as the weather, but I would argue that I am going with the flow.

Quality of Life

“You and I want our lives to matter. We want our lives to make a real difference- to be of genuine consequence in the world. We know that there is no satisfaction in merely going through the motions, even if those motions make us successful, or even if we have arranged to make those motions pleasant. We want to know we have made some impact on the world. In fact, you and I want to contribute to the quality of life. We want to make the world work.”
-Werner Erhard

Web of Life

“Humankind has not woven the web of life. We are but one thread within it. Whatever we do to the web, we do to ourselves. All things are bound together. All things connect.”

Smiling Ear to Ear

Things that made me smile in the last week:

  1. seeing four Mallard ducks on a double date
  2. the really cute guy who fixed my flat tire at Les Swab
  3. being married to an even cuter guy
  4. hiking to Table Rock with good friends
  5. seeing three deer eating rose bushes in downtown Boise
  6. listening to Alannis, Madonna & Johnny Cash all in a row

What made you smile this week?

“Until one is committed, there is hesitancy, the chance to draw back, always ineffectiveness. Concerning all acts of initiative (and creation) there is one elementary truth, the ignorance of which kills countless ideas and splendid plans: that the moment one definitely commits oneself then providence moves too. All sorts of things occur to help one that would never have otherwise occurred. A whole stream of events issue from the decision, raising in one’s favor all manner of unforeseen incidents and meetings and material assistance which no one could have dreamed would have one’s way. So… whatever you can do or dream you can, begin it. Boldness has genius, power, and magic in it.

Mob of Five

OK everyone the mob was not exactly a mob. At 1:15 today 5 of us gathered at the Boise mall for one of the shortest yoga classes ever. We were able to get our mats out, start the music and do one half sun salutation. The food court seemed like the perfect place to do yoga, but the mall cops didn’t agree. We moved it outside and had just gathered an extra yogi off the sidewalk when we were busted again! I haven’t decided what to think about all this yet, but I do know I had FUN! My friend Melinda suggested we try the Capitol next time….would this mean ‘real cops’ would arrive?

Glory of Friendship

“The glory of friendship is not the outstretched hand, not the kindly smile, not the joy of companionship; it is the spiritual inspiration that comes to one when he discovers that someone believes in him and is willing to trust him with his friendship.”
-Ralph Waldo Emerson
